Adding Widgets to your Wordpress Blog
Slightly off topic today peeps.
I know a lot of my friends have recently join Today. However, most of them may not have had experience with wordpress before and may not know how to put in sidebar widgets and stuff. So, here’s a simple “how-to” for their benefit as well as for others
- From your dashboard click on “Look and Feel”
- From here you can choose the template that you like as well
- Click on “Widgets”
- Now you will see your sidebar arrangement. Depending on what template you choose, you will either see one or two sidebars. In mine, you will see two
- You should already see a bunch of sidebar elements there.
- Now scroll down to “Available Widgets”. You should see “Text 1″
- Drag that onto your sidebar. Don’t worry about the warning that you sidebar will be amended
- Now that your “Text 1″ is already in your sidebar, click on that that. You would see the picture below

- You can now enter any html code in there. Once done, click on the “x’ button on the box
- Keep adding new widgets from your “Available widgets” if you want to. If you run out of “Text” elements, you can scroll further done, look for the “Text Widgets” box and add more from there.
- You can also rearrange your widgets by “drop and drag” method
- Once done, click “Save”
There you are… your very own customised sidebar
Enjoy!
